Ban on growshops effective as of today

While the rest of the world is becoming more tolerant, in terms of soft drugs, growshops are illegal in Netherlands.

Police, justice and municipalities compete with growshops that help in the preparation of illegal hemp cultivation. That is due to a change of the opium law that went into effect today.

Preparatory acts for illegal hemp cultivation are therefore punishable. Growshops are punnishable according to the ORDER focused on acts in preparation for or facilitation of illegal hemp cultivation. For example, deliveringlamps for that purpose or delivering nutrients and breeding lofts.

Offenders are looking at a maximum prison sentence of three years and a fine up to 81,000 euros.
