The Amsterdam bicycle brand Vanmoof, of the brothers Ties and Taco Carlier, has since yesterday a new flagship store in New York. The brand is already running in 39 countries worldwide.
After New York shops in Taipei, Singapore and Osaka must also follow. The opening of the shop fits in the new strategy of the bicycle brand. Since a year they are selling the design bicycles themselfs, so other shops can’t sell them.
That strategy seems to bear fruit: according to the company it doubled its sales in the first quarter by 2015, compared to the previous year. Vanmoof capitalizes on the growing popularity of the city bike in cities such as New York and Tokyo and says to sell a bike every hour. The company is planning further international growth.
Vanmoof was founded in 2009 and makes city bikes. The designs of the bikes have already won several prices.
