The successor of the Bugatti Veyron does a stab at the title ‘ fastest production car in the world ‘ and as it seems the hypercar with the name Chiron will actually get that predicate. The first test simulations of Bugatti came at a top speed of as many as 463 km/h! That posts the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport.
But the question is whether that is actually the top speed. The limit has to do with the tires. No supplier provides a set of tires that is able to offer such speed with comfort and a normal common mileage. For the Veyron was a separate tire developed by Michelin. With the black footwear, that costs € 30.250,-per set (excluding installation), could be done six runs of twenty six seconds at a speed of 435 km/h, before they exploded.
Bugatti assembles in the Chiron a W16 engine with sixteen cylinders. However, the power source is changed and is now getting support of an electric motor to achieve the expected power of 1500 HP and the limited torque of about 1500 Nm. With the extreme motor output, the Bugatti-rider can realize an acceleration from 0-100 km/h in two seconds.
Bugatti Chiron will introduce the Chiron next year. Despite that the hypercar is still in development, there’s no price available yet and the presentation is delayed a year, Bugatti has already received the first orders for the limited Bugatti sports car.
